Project: Solartaxi
It all began with a dream. Since he was 14, the Swiss Louis Palmer had wished to travel around the world just by solar power. Now, 20 years later, he is on the way with his self-made Solartaxi: More than 50 000 kilometers, 18 months and 5 continents of carrying out his sustainable mission around the world.
Surprising countries, arresting encounters and right in the middle our camera guy Erik. He turns the tour into a solar road movie. Check out his video reports!

On the way to Denver, the Solartaxi has established another record by reaching an elevation of 10,603ft, the highest point of the entire journey: Another proof for the capability of the solar powered vehicle that has traveled over 38 000 kilometers so far! This is a reason to talk with Andreas Manthey, Vice-Chairman of the German Association for Solar Mobility about the relevance of Louis Palmer... |

The Solartaxi has reached the United States! Starting in Seattle, Louis and his team traveled down the wild Oregon Coast to California. But suddenly, when they finally arrived in Davis, waiting on the parking lot, the trailer shaft broke and punctured the rear wheel. Fortunately, this didn't happen at a speed of 50 mph somewhere between elks, bears and bush fires... But all this couldn't... |

While Louis and his crew are on their way to Canada it`s time to take a short break and have a look at some impressions from their recent trip to Korea. Meeting the Swiss Army on the North Korean border, a media hype about the cab and an breakdown caused by rain. It seems the guys from the Solartaxi had an exciting time in their eleventh month away from home. |

For SolarWorld and Q-Cells solar mobility isn't just a future vision, it's a reality worth talking about. Both companies support car concepts that are solely fueled by solar energy: the Solartaxi and the Solarracer .Here they talk about the cars, their visions and the possible integration of solar energy for cars of the future. |

I heard from the solartaxi already from various sides. It's amazing how such a small project can catch major media attention. Great job Louis!

Cool !
Driving embassador for sustainable change on a global scale.
the solartaxi reminds me of a car from a science fiction roman. progress!!! How much would it cost to take it for a short-distance?
I'm the first who supports Louis, Erik and the great solartaxi ;-)
I just love that the solartaxi attracts and connects so many around the world for only one reason: making the world a sustainable place!
Solar all the way!
cause its a no emission project, i wish to see such projects getting transformed into production. I am looking forward for a day having cars with ZERO emission.

What a great idea to take the solar spirit around the world! Good luck for your mission, Louis!!!
battery and solar powered cars are the future. why hydrogen? it's expensive and inefficient.
