The American Magazine Vanity Fair shows actor and environmental activist Leonardo di Caprio together with Knut the polar Bear (we reported!) on the cover of the new green issue.

The foto of Mr. di Caprio was taken in Island, the one Knut in Berlin Zoo. Modern technology put the two together in the foto lab.

Leonardo di Caprio is on tour for his new environmental documentary "The 11th hour" at the moment.

Cute Knut the new symbol against climate change

Date: March 27, 2007, posted by Alexander Goerlach

A small polar bear - Knut - catches much of the publics attention in the last days. The cute, small bear has become the symbol for fighting global warming and the melting arctic.

Bears are Berlin’s city mascot, but according to Sigmar Gabriel, the German environment minister, Knut, the cute polar bear, he hopes will help more people “become active in working against climate change.”

Knut, according to zoo Driector Bernhard Blaszkiewicz, is now “Berlin’s ambassador to the international climate change debate.” A big role for a small bear.

And there are more things to come: Knut is going to be the mascot of next years protection of species conference held in Bonn. The ministry of environment now offered to pay the costs of Knut’s feed for the next year.

Bear Knut and his twin brother were born in December and afterwards abandoned by their mother. His brother unfortunately died because of the cold, Knut was found alive and raised by a man.

Knut's story is known all over the planet already - when he was presented to the public last week for the first time camera crews from all over the world gathered to get him filmed for their TV programs back home.
