Video: Brian Cox About the World's Biggest Supercollider

Date: October 04, 2008, posted by Joerg

The apocalypse has been postponed! The Large Hadron Collider (LHC), a giant “atom-smasher” in Geneva, Switzerland, has been brought to a temporary halt after significant damage was caused a few days ago.

This might be a relief to all those who are afraid that the collisions caused by the LHC would be so violent that they could cause a black hole sucking in the world. However, regarding the fact that the LHC will be started again next year, the discussions will probably continue (notice the Club of Pioneers Thread about the LHC!).

To form an own opinion about the LHC it's certainly useful to learn more of the world's biggest scientific experiment. Watch no one less than Brian Cox, "Rock-star physicist"and member of a research staff of the LHC explaining the spectacular experiment at the TED Conference to the general public.
