Battery Electric Vehicles could shape the automotive future, that is what we learned from Karolin’s latest blog about zero emission BEV’s. If anyone still thinks, this would be a future without any enjoyment of driving, this car proves you wrong: Ian Wright, an early employee of electric-car company Tesla Motors, created the Wrightspeed X1, a racer that can go from 0 to 100 km/h in three seconds...on batteries! We met San Francisco-based Ian Wright in California where he took us on a ride with the fastest electric car on the planet! Put your seat belt and watch the video!

Did you know that Battery electric vehicles were the first cars breaking the speed barrier over 100 km/h? Well that was in 1899. Now over a hundred years later the BEVs are ready to start off their trail of success. A Battery electric vehicle is a car, that uses electricity stored in its rechargeable battery pack to power an electric motor that turns its wheels. Because a BEV uses electricity as a fuel, there are no emissions out of its tailpipe, well actually it doesen´t even have a tailpipe!
Dynasty Electric Car Corp, an electric Low Speed Vehicle (LSV’) for the city The great thing is, that the Electric vehicles can be “fueled” at home using a separate electricity meter while standing in the garage over night. You even can recharge them using renewable energy sources like wind, solar or hydropower. So they do not cause any air pollution at all. Just a couple month ago Toshiba presented a new battery that can be recharged to 90 percent capacity in under five minutes, lasts 10 years and should be used in electric cars by 2010.
