And the winner is....
Al Gore and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC) have jointly won the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007 -
“for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change”

Al Gore

Ex vice president Gore, whose documentary “An Inconvenient Truth” helped to publicise the man-made causes of Climate change, is donating all of the proceeds of the award to the Alliance for Climate Protection.

Mr. Rajendra Pachauri, the Chairman of the IPCC, paid tribute to the scientific community, whom he called “the winners of this award” and announced, “This is an honour that goes to all the scientists and authors who have contributed to the work of the IPCC, which alone has resulted in enormous prestige for this organization and the remarkable effectiveness of the message that it contains".

Despite the win, the US Government has stated it will not change its environmental policy nor ratify the Kyoto agreement to limit carbon emissions.
There is also ongoing speculation as to whether Gore will run for election. Time will tell. However the award is an international achievement, and the planet is clearly winning.

Live Earth Concert all over the world

Date: July 06, 2007, posted by Alexander Goerlach

We knew for months now that this day will come. Today is the day of the worldwide concert campaign of
Life Earth, the concert tour organized by Al Gore.

Stars from all over the planet sing and perform to combate climate change. When I remember last year when we started Club of Pioneers and see the world today eight months later we can say that many things have changed awarenesswise. However we are still searching for solutions - like Carbon Capture and Storage and have not seen the political will to set in practice all the things we already could do.

Hopefully the Concert will be another incentive to change that.

7 7 07 - the kickoff for a global revolution

Date: February 24, 2007, posted by Alexander Goerlach

7707 – is the line promoting the worldwide concerts initiated by Al Gore. The politician says that in order to solve our climate issues, we need to form a global network. July 7th 2007 a series of concerts on all continents shall start the offspring of this worldwide community.

Al Gore asks for a Climate Revolution. Nothing else signifies his statement: “In order to solve the climate crisis, we have to reach billions of people. The climate crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement.”

We support Al Gore and hope we all achieve what is most needed: a global turn-around in environmental matters.
