Did you know that Battery electric vehicles were the first cars breaking the speed barrier over 100 km/h? Well that was in 1899. You even can recharge them using renewable energy sources like wind, solar or hydropower. So they do not cause any air pollution at all.Just a couple month ago Toshiba presented a new battery that can be recharged to 90 percent capacity in under five minutes, lasts 10 years and should be used in electric cars by 2010.
